A Splendid day in Dulwich Park
On a glorious June afternoon, 26 members, supporters and friends of DASSSA, wearing specially designed DASSSA T-shirts, completed a fundraising walk in and around Dulwich Park in south London. At the time of writing, we've so far raised just over £3,500 through sponsorship and donations.
It was one of our most successful walks, and marked twenty years after the first DASSSA walk, which took place in the autumn of 1998, in Stanmore, north London.
Two members had researched the 6.6 mile route in advance and led us from our starting point at Dulwich Picture Gallery, through the streets of picturesque Dulwich Village and then to the lawns and shrubberies of Dulwich Park and its neighboring Belair Park.
We were happy to welcome members of the Grand Bay UK Alliance and the Waitukubuli Culture and Tourism Initiative who joined us. Along the route, we distributed promotional fundraising leaflets to people interested in what we were doing.
The walk ended in the Park with a splendid picnic on the grass under a large oak tree. The food and drink was provided by DASSSA members and was much enjoyed.
We would like to thank everyone who made the day such a great success, the invisible online sponsors that continue to support us, friends, family and other Dominica Associations.
Next year, the walk will be returning to north London and we look forward to welcoming members and supporters alike.
